Asics Gel Kinsei 2’s - What type of runner are they for?

December 20, 2007 – 5:46 pm
The Kinsei 2's are designed for the medium to high mileage runner offering a great cushioning level, but a question we are asked regularly is what type of foot are they for? Well the Kinsei 2 is suitable both for the neutral runner and those who overpronate (if you have with a flatter foot or low arch you will likely overpronate).

When talking to runners they often ask us what we think they should be doing in order to improve their race times. Here is out 5 step get to getting quicker.... 1. Diet: Don't starve yourself, its important to eat well when you are training hard. Cut out the rubbish though, no chocolate, sweets, crisps or alcohol. Have a look at training plans around the internet and take the best bits from them in order to produce a plan that fits around your lifestyle. 3. Train hard, then recover. What type of shoe do I need?

November 15, 2007 – 5:21 pm
Running shoes can generally be classified into three categories. Cushioned shoes, support shoes and control shoes. How do you know which one is for you? The reason three types of shoe exist is to cater for different pronations. Pronation is the term used to describe the motion when your foot hits the floor during a run. You can test your own pronation by examining your footprint. The best way to do this is to examine a wet footprint on a dry floor. Your print should resemble one of the three images below: If your footprint looks like this you have a high arched foot and will tend to run on your toes. You need a cushioned shoe. If you have a normal footprint like this one you need a support shoe. More than half of runners have this type of footprint. If you have flat feet your print will look like this ...

Asics Kinsei 2’s on Channel 5’s Gadget Show

November 10, 2007 – 5:54 pm
The new Asics Gel Kinsei 2's made an appearance on Channel 5's Gadget Show this week although they didn't get a road test. Iwan Thomas was instead testing the Adidas One, which features a magnetic sensor inside each heel which monitors terrain, runners weight and footfall. Then it was onto the Nike Air Pegasus + which feature a space in the sole for a 'chip'. This chip then communicated with your iPod to give you instuctions whilst you are out running. The chip calculate speed, time an calories burned. The Nike+ system was well received on the show but I think the Nike+ system really needs GPS to integrating to be a proper training aid and rival Garmin's Forunners. I suspect the ...
