Mizuno Wave Inspire 8 v Wave Inspire 7

By , May 17th, 2012 | News | 0 Comments

The Wave Inspire 8 is suitable for an over pronator, giving support and cushioning.

The long term wearer’s of the Wave Inspire will be pleased to know that Mizuno have listened to their committed wearer’s of this shoe. The Wave Inspire 7 caused some problems for some with the collar being high and this resulted in rubbing around the ankle bone so Mizuno have lowered this in the Wave Inspire 8 and removed the Dynamotion Fit tab to make it feel more like the Wave Inspire 6. Also removed are the flex eyelets and the longer tongue which were on the Wave Inspire 7 . The heel is also not as stiff as the Wave Inspire 7.

Another addition to this shoe are the smooth ride tabs which help in the transition from heel to toe, which will aid in a more efficient running gait. Mizuno have extended the wave plate just past the arch of the foot so that it will provide good arch support and  have slightly flared the medial aspect of the heel to ensure a stable landing. All in all the comfort and performance of  the Wave Inspire 8 is more like the Wave Inspire 6 and hopefully better than the Wave Inspire 7.

Mizuno Wave Rider 15

By , May 12th, 2012 | News | 0 Comments

The Wave Rider 15 is most suitable shoe for a neutral runner. A lot of Mizuno Rider fans like this shoe because of its lightness. There were some negative reviews about the Wave Rider 14, one of them being how the collar was too high causing abrasions around the ankle bone. Mizuno have reduced this by lowering the heel collar which, to me, does feel a lot better. When on, this shoe feels light but firm giving a great transition from heel to toe. Although snug, there is a good amount of room in the toe box which I liked the feel of. The Wave Rider 15 does feature an extended wave plate through to the mid foot, this helps to improve the ride of the shoe but might feel a little rigid to some. The other change to this shoe is the material used, this is more giving and aerated. I think on the whole if you are looking for a lightweight shoe and lower profile feel with cushioning, then this shoe might be worth a try.

Wave Alchemy 11 v Wave Alchemy 10

By , | News | 0 Comments

The Wave Alchemy 11 is a shoe offering stability & control, most suitable for a moderate to severe over-pronator. This shoe is now in its second decade of production proving to be a very popular shoe amongst the fans of Mizuno who require a good amount of control and stability. The plate starts from the heel and travels the whole arch of the foot allowing for a more neutral gait. Comparing Alchemy 11 against the Alchemy 10, very little has changed with the shoe apart from the addition of the AP+ which apparently is the up graded version of the AP foam which is now bouncier and more durable. The other change is in the heel cup & upper. The heel is now a snugger fit resulting in less slippage and the overlay is a lot softer. General reviews of the Alchemy 11 are very positive.

Asics Mens Virage 6

This is a support shoe for a mild over pronator, offering great gel cushioning with a certain amount of  stability which is incorporated in to the shoe by the use of the Trussic system under the arch which gives added strength and stability but with some flexibility. A light shoe, aerated, comfortable and good value for money.

Asics Ladies Knee Tight

These knee tights feel very comfortable when on and quite a flattering fit as well. Ideal for this present weather, and I know some ladies would prefer not to wear shorts, so these are a great in betweener. Made with  high wicking tech fabric which, in addition, allows for freedom of movement, as well as feeling lovely and soft against the skin. I can say that the waist felt good with the elasticated waist and inner draw string. With the back zip pocket I found that I could fit two energy gels quite comfortably.

Tip: Avoid using bio washing powder or fabric softener as this prevents the wicking process thus leaving you sweaty and uncomfortable.

Trail shoe-Asics ladies Trail Sensor 5

Thought that these are worth a mention, a nice comfortable, cushioned shoe for most terrains except for very muddy conditions. Once you put your foot into this shoe you can feel the cushioning in the rearfoot and forefoot. The thing I particularly like is the roomy feel in the shoe box which, for me is quite essential especially when, at the end of a long off-road run feet swell, and running any distance in a tight shoe is a killer! Another bonus is the rock plate that Asics put between the outer layer and inner layer of the sole, this reduces the painful feeling in the ball of the foot when you land on those pesky stones. Thanks to the reverse lugs, the grip is also good when running (or crawling) up hill and also when descending. This shoe comes in a practical colour too!
